Combining GPS, GSM and RFID technologies in modern transport and forwarding

Transport and forwarding place ever greater demands on telematics and GPS tracking. As transport and logistics have developed, problems have emerged that, contrary to appearances, are not easy to deal with. Logistics companies handle more and more orders and expand their fleets with more trailers that travel the roads of the whole of Europe.

The problem of locating trailers and allocating them to the right tractor units has become increasingly common, as has controlling the cargo, the temperature and even the humidity in the load space.

By combining modern GPS, GSM and RFID technologies, Navifleet's technical department has created a special product dedicated to transport: Navifleet Trailer.

Navifleet Trailer is a set of wireless tools for building a telematics system that enables identification, remote reading of lorry trailer parameters (temperature, humidity) and of the goods inside them, as well as driver identification. The system also makes it possible to verify that the correct trailer is coupled to the tractor unit, eliminating transport logistics errors. The set consists of a GPS tracker and an active RFID reader in the tractor unit together with wireless tags or sensor tags. Thanks to the unique active RFID transmission technology, fitting the tags does not require running cables between the tractor unit and the trailer. Once the system is installed at the client's base, it is also possible to control the trailers and tractor units in the client's yard.

System capabilities:
– verification that the correct trailer is coupled to the tractor unit
– automatic identification (driver, trailer)
– automatic event detection (trailer door opening, movement)
– automatic monitoring of parameters in the trailer (temperature, humidity)
– control of the number and type of trailers and tractor units in the yard
