FAQ - frequently asked questions

What is the role of OBU / ZSL devices in the e-TOLL system?
OBU and ZSL devices are GPS trackers. They record the vehicle's position and send it to the e-TOLL system. Based on the location data, e-TOLL builds the route of the journey and then determines which road sections should be charged.
How does an OBU / ZSL device know which vehicle it is in?
It does not. The carrier is responsible for linking the device to the vehicle. This can be done after logging in to the Online Customer Account (IKK). The process of registering a company, creating vehicle profiles and linking them to devices is shown in this video.
How to start a Navifleet OBU / ZSL device in the e-TOLL system?
OBU / ZSL devices are automatically registered in the e-TOLL system by the Navifleet app. Each user receives a list of business identifiers for the purchased devices, by which the devices are identified in the e-TOLL system. Enter the business identifier you received in IKK under Devices -> Add device.
How this process works is explained in the article How to start using e-TOLL with Navifleet.
Where can I enter the number of axles of a vehicle that uses toll roads?
Road tolls in Poland do not depend on the number of axles but on the vehicle's category and weight. There is no need to define the number of axles, because the toll category is the same regardless of whether the semi-trailer has its axles raised or not.
Where can I specify the vehicle dimensions and the presence of a trailer?
On the IKK website, create vehicle profiles by entering the registration number and VIN. Based on this, the technical data of the vehicle is automatically retrieved from the CEPIK system and does not need to be entered manually. However, the user must remember to mark in the IKK system when the vehicle is travelling with a trailer and when it is not. In the profile of each vehicle on the IKK website there is a button for this operation.
Where can I control whether data is being transmitted to the e-TOLL system?
This is not possible in the Navifleet app. Activating the e-TOLL module on a given device triggers automatic registration in the e-TOLL system in order to obtain a business number and automatic sending of location data. The device is activated by the Navifleet Team. Data transmission to the e-TOLL system cannot be switched off temporarily. To switch off the e-TOLL module completely, contact Navifleet Customer Service.
If I buy OBU devices, will I see the new devices in addition to the ones visible on the map?
No. OBU devices are intended only to deliver data to the e-TOLL system. In the Navifleet app they are not visible on the map or on the list in the VEHICLES tab. All devices with the e-TOLL module are visible in the app in the E-TOLL tab. From the E-TOLL tab you can change the device name and registration number after moving it to another vehicle. The name and registration number in the Navifleet app are irrelevant from the e-TOLL system's perspective; the contents of these fields are not sent along with the location data.
Do e-TOLL devices also work in the SENT system?
Yes. Since both systems are developed by the same body (the National Revenue Administration, KAS), the same device business number can be used in both the e-TOLL system and the SENT system. When the new version of the SENT system comes into force, all devices will be re-registered automatically by the Navifleet app and displayed in the gps.navifleet.pl app in the relevant tab.
How will I find out about technical problems with the system?
The Navifleet app regularly monitors whether all required data is being sent to the e-TOLL system (i.e. while driving in Poland). If for some reason the OBU / ZSL device or the e-TOLL system does not respond, a relevant message is displayed on the list of registered devices in the Navifleet app. If the problem persists for several minutes, notifications (PUSH, SMS, e-mail) about the observed problems are sent out.
How will the driver know that the data exchange is running without disruption?
All OBU devices have LEDs and a speaker that indicate correct operation. Any problems are immediately signalled to the driver with audio-visual signals. A problem lasting longer than 5 minutes means that the driver should stop or leave the toll road at the nearest possible safe place.
What is the commission for using Navifleet in the e-Toll system?
The commission is PLN 0. We do not charge a commission for sending location data to SPOE KAS. The monthly subscription fee results from the cost of data transfer (a position every 5 seconds).
Can I cancel the service during the 12 months?
The subscription fee is charged for 12 months in advance and is non-refundable.
Does buying the service from you require any action on our part?
Yes, how this process works is explained in the article How to start using e-TOLL with Navifleet.
